Throughout my years of schooling, I've had many very influential opportunities to grow and gain new skills and experience. The summer after my junior year of high school, I was chosen to be a part of Whirlpool Corporation's Young Future Leaders Program where I interned with their Category Management department. I spent that summer learning applicable data analysis strategies and worked with platforms such as Google Suites and Tableau Data Visualization. I spent the majority of my time at Whirlpool working other another member of my team to map out every Best Buy location in America inside of tableau. After that, we took U.S. census data in the form of Public Use Micro Areas (PUMAs) and paired the available information with Best Buy locations in 5, 10, and 20-mile radii. This allowed our team to analyze the demographics of a given region to provide Best Buy with the most likely to be bought products. Since the Fall of 2020, I have been attending the University of Michigan where I am working to earn a degree in Data Science. Every semester since coming to college I have taken a combination of classes on programming and mathematics that have expanded my knowledge of important concepts and functions that are vital for future careers. The University of Michigan also offers an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program which I was accepted into at the start of my sophomore year. The specific research program I joined was focused on designing a learning platform where students could access all of their courses' available content for studying (lecture recordings, flashcards, practice exams, past homework) all in one location. During my time on the project, I worked primarily on planning and conducting focus groups as well as talking to professors about the specifics of their classes that could be available for the site. The plan is for our platform to be available to students across the University of Michigan soon and possibly expanded to campuses across the country.
