About Brady Clarke
I grew up with an irrational fear of the ocean, a hatred for biology, and a debilitating speech impediment. As I went into my undergraduate degree, my speech had improved, but my distaste for the ocean and biology had yet to waver. During my first semester, I met a passionate science communicator who told me stories of ocean acidification and the impact and threats to the ocean. I switched my career path to help tell these same stories in the hope of sparking the next generation of ocean advocates. My passion lies in science communication and education outreach of our marine ecosystems with a focus on using visual media. I find that films, images, and infographics have the ability to transcend language, geographic, and socioeconomic barriers. My career goal is to use films and photographs to increase the impact and awareness of pressing issues on our environment. I have been walking the line of science communication, straddling both sides as I build up experiences both in filmmaking and marine science. With formal training as a marine biologist, I bring my passion and analytical mindset with me into the field on each assignment. Balancing science with art is a delicate dance.Magna Cum Laud B.S. in Marine, Estuary, and Freshwater Biology and a Minor in Conservation from the University of New Hampshire.Master of Applied Science Communication and Natural History Filmmaking with Distinction from the University of Otago, New Zealand
