About Brady Loomer

Innovative and accomplished Space and STEM educator with twelve years of formal and one year of informal education experience. Believes that space and technology can connect all students and their families on the common ground that we are all citizens of the same pale blue dot. Daring to change the world one student and one conversation at a time. Current projects include:-Growing the DEVCOM Soldier Center's STEM program to include tours of lab facilities, Subject Matter Expert (SME) conversations with students, STEM learning activities that highlight and mirror Army technology, public event exhibitions, and an annual STEM competition for local students.Past Projects include:-Creating St. Mark's Space Program, which has the mission to raise community awareness and engagement in space issues and events. The program accomplishes this through space-specific curricula, organizing and overseeing a student leadership group, running community events, and keeping the broader community informed of various events. -Mentoring students on novel research projects including astrobiology, material science, and aeronautics.-Designing, Running, and Refining four Aerospace electives, ensuring that modern principles, events, and industry are incorporated into student coursework.-Curriculum review, development, and refinement of forward-thinking science department courses according to the framework of Understanding By Design and KUD.

Technical service included daily and weekly testing, drawdowns, inventory, equipment maintenance, chemical proposals, safety related items, and general support not necessarily related to Ashland chemicals. -Daily and weekly testing included: microbiological testing (ATP and Aerobic Count), Wet End testing (retention, charge, etc.), biocide testing (BAC residual and stability), and chemical drawdowns. Other daily tasks included coordinating chemical drop-offs throughout the mill and completing chemical transfers according to the proper safety guidelines.-Updated all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS's) throughout customer mills, created 10 safety procedures known as Job Safety Analyses (JSA's), used JSA's to review procedures creating Job Safety Observations (JSO's). Performed safety audits, ensuring that all areas surrounding the chemical systems were safe and to code. These were to be implemented company wide.-Inventoried all equipment at one mill to reduce capital spending on new equipment. Approximate savings from reuse/refurbishing of equipment was $100,000.-Extensively tested wet end charge on a towel machine and plotted it versus the ratio of two chemicals being used. This proved that the chemical ratio was an extremely important factor in the production of quality paper and the optimal ratio was adopted as rule among the process engineers and machine operators. Chemical usage was reduced approximately by 33%, which resulted in cost savings for the customer.-Created an informational booklet for each paper machine that included: the chemical used on each machine, spill and hazard information, schematics of chemical delivery systems and injection points, dosage/usage rates, electrical information, personnel/contact information, and emergency response. Also included all JSA's associated with each system and chemical transfer information that was necessary.
