I'm coming up on ten years in the insurance industry. I entered the industry as a Customer Service Representative fresh out of college. While in that position I had the opportunity to communicate with insureds to make sure they were properly covered for all of their professional exposures (property, malpractice, workers' compensation, cyber, etc.).After four years I transferred to the Accounting department, where I handled bookkeeping duties as well as taking on responsibilities such as financial reporting and IT. During my time in the accounting department I took on the role of running all reports for the agency. These included financial, sales, client/ policy lists, pipeline, and many other reports we could run in our system. After five years in the accounting position, I took on the role of Marketing Director. Here I use my marketing education and reporting knowledge to analyze both financial and sales data using our CRM system. With this I can track prospects from lead, to quote, to sale as well as where we lost the prospect in the sales process. This gives the agency a better understanding of who our target markets are, as well as what works and what does not work. I also handle other marketing duties such as social media, email marketing, advertising contracts, and trade-show setup.
