Ever since I was a junior attending Avon High School, working as a server’s assistant/caterer at a local restaurant, I knew that I wanted to help other’s to the best of my ability. After graduating, I attended IUPUI in hopes of becoming an RN while continuing my goal by working part time as a lifeguard. But as luck would have it, after a year of attending and getting accepted into IUPUI’s nursing program, I went broke and couldn’t afford to continue my college career. At the same time, my sister graduated high school with the same passion. I knew the same thing would happen to her as we both were working as lifeguards at the same establishment, but I knew I could find a way to help other’s in another way, and she’d wanted to be an RN for longer than myself. Knowing that I needed experience, I took a job that I knew would give me exactly that for customer service; Applebee’s, and helped pay my sister’s way through college. (She’s an RN now, and excelling, like I knew she would. Just like she had always wanted. 🙂)After working with Applebee’s for a year, helping out at multiple locations in the Indianapolis area, I had been promoted to a manager. I continued this work for three years, learning just how businesses worked. From scheduling, to ordering what the restaurant needed, to doing inventory; I learned plenty to move on from this position, and left with my head held high.I applied for the position of a logistics coordinator with BDP, as it interested me just how intricate the line of work is, and after an interview of showing both my customer care experience and addicting personality; I was hired. After working with them for roughly one year and eight or nine months, COVID-19 made it’s appearance to the world. This forced us all to begin working remotely. Fortunately, I had learned enough to handle the job. So much so that BDP trusted me to shift my duties to focusing on dispatching for the company, which I taught myself, a few months into the mass quarantine.Another year of working from home went by and I had decided it was time to move on. I wanted to go further into dispatching and helping the customers in a more personal setup. Spot has been just that. The freedom we have to do everything we can to get these shipments moved for our clients, while providing updates every step of the way so that they may rest easy knowing that they are in great hands is extremely satisfying. I look forward to continuing my growth and knowledge needed to flourish my high school ambition that Spot is helping me attain.
