The ESG is made up of the university’s Department of Environmental Sciences, the ISRIC foundation and the specialised research institute, Alterra. The focus of the ESG is on the broad domain of environmental sciences, including the fields of sustainable soil management, nature & biodiversity, spatial planning & land use, water management & governance, and climate & the living environment. Improving dairy, beef, lamb and deer production systems is addressed by innovative research on soil and water management, pasture fertilisation and farm nutrient management, while reducing negative impacts on the quality of soil, water and atmosphere and ecosystems.

Improving communication with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Fisheries, accounting for the budgets of yearly subsidies, and strategic positioning of the Wageningen research.

Operational Manager Soil Science Centre of the Environmental Sciences Group of Wageningen University and Research Centre. Managing 3 University professorial research groups and 4 applied research groups within Alterra; the Soil chemical and biological laboratories and the administration unit.
