My work at Crisis Group centers around conflict, crime, illicit economies, and their relationships to the environment and climate change. Our efforts have a strong advocacy focus, and the insights we gather from the field are used for actionable policy recommendations.

Research journalistSecond time Pulitzer Center on Conflict Reporting grantee. I coordinated a multi-sited investigation about the illegal trade in mercury and gold that was executed by an alliance of multiple media organizations in four countries, employing more than 10 journalists. Besides coordinating the research, I contributed to the fieldwork, writing of articles and outreach campaign.

CATAPA (COMITÉ ACADÉMICO TÉCNICO DE ASESORAMIENTO A PROBLEMAS AMBIENTALES). CATAPA works on socio-environmental conflicts in Latin America, with a strong focus on the mining sector. I worked as activist, lobbyist and researcher. A personal accomplishment was the design (website and content) of the GOUD:EERLIJK? (GOLD:HONEST?) campaign. The lobby work mainly targeted Belgian national politics and the EU.
