I started playing percussion at the age of 15. From 1980, I studied at the Rotterdam Conservatoire, under the direction of Henk Hemmes and Henk v.d. Schalk (Mini & Maxi). I subsequently studied with professional drummers such as Juan van Emmerloot, Hans Cleuver, Erik Ineke, Kim Plainfield en Peter Berk. In addition, I gained experience in studio work and played on numerous demo recordings.From 1997, I did a lot of studio work and substitute work with various orchestras (big bands, musical Jesus Christ Superstar, Slide Dans Projects Heerlen). During this time, I also started my own groups: ‘Jazzcapade’, a jazz trio with a regular session in The Hague featuring guests such as Marius Beets, Fee Claasen, Peter Beets and Udo van Boven; ‘Jazzkwartet’, regular singers being Judith Nijland en Marietta Aprea; and ‘Jerboa’ a commercial orchestra for company parties and the event circuit.Beside the playing i am owner of AMS Productions and responsible for the management of several bands. As a player and bandleader organicing the gig’s and everything aroud it.Bands like; The New Party, Go Yellow, High5 and Jazzcappade Trio working up to 80 gig’s a year.From 2009 I was involved as a drummer with a dualing pianoconcept.At present, I perform with various orchestras, I give lessons at my private studio. I also work via temping agencies for substitute music teachers or c.k.v.Furthermore, I have gained experience at various music schools in the region and have substituted for teachers at secondary schools in Amsterdam. I graduated for my masters degree at the Artez conservatory.Very recently, I studied with Kim Plainfield, Peter Retzlaff, Sandy Gennaro, Brad Filckinger, Guy Licata, Pat Pertillo, Frank Klatz and Steve Marks at the drummers Collective New YorkBesides my playing activities i try to study in my free hours to become more skilled
