During my time with Specsavers ive held two positions within the company, I was initially employed as a Pre Tester / Receptionist however my technical and interpersonal skills made me a candidate for a Optical Assistant, where I would use learned skills and high end equipment to measure and fit glasses to a patient, help find suitable combinations of frames and lenses, both single vision for Long and short sightedness, but also much more complex Varifocals and Bifocals, Trifocals and Enhanced Reading glasses.After 3 years, an opportunity to expand my skills became available and I decided to leap into the position of Labatory Assistant and learn how to cut and fit lenses into glasses using Essilor equipment, from Auto Refractors, to Blockers, Tint baths, and edgers, automatic or by hand, my near 3 years working in the Lab has taught me some valuable skills, I can produce A* Quality finished lenses, of all prescriptions and complexity, Plastic, Poly or Glass, Hydrophobic lenses and specialist coatings alike, there isn't much I havent covered, if anything.I'm currently working towards a professional qualification in Opthalmic Laboratory Technician known as SMCC.This job has taught me many skills from furthering my personal relationship building ability in a intimate environment, using complex and legally sensitive computer systems, safeguarding patients and their data, working with children, and the vulnerable, using high end hospital grade equipment and managing time to a knife edge down to saving mere seconds, out of all my past work, Specsavers has taught me some extremely valuable high pressure lessons.

I worked for Waitrose for only a short amount of time due to a lack of hours, but during my time there I made an impression as a Trainee Wine Specialist, I had to learn about various wine types, grapes, production facilities, varied types of wines and much more including various spirits and even cocktails to ensure maximum additional product sales, I also assisted the “ambient team”or dry goods department re stocking shelves and product ordering during slow periods such as early mornings. I would have to ensure POS was positioned correctly and up to date, that product cards where up to date and correct, to ensure the whole department was a clean and tidy as possible, and that there were no unassisted customers as part of my job was alcohol security. I would be responsible for using the electronic tills and cash handling, customer relations and complaints handling.
