Investigating new treatment possibilities for cardiovascular diseases and cancer by using ultrasound-activated vibrating microbubbles to reduce side-effects and boost local drug delivery. During this project in the group of dr. Kooiman, the mechanisms behind microbubble-mediated drug uptake will be investigated using advanced in vitro models (like Organ-on-chip) and in vivo models to find a novel cure for stomach cancer.

Master internship about living cardiac tissue slides as a model for cardiac research at the group of Cesare Terracciano. During this project, my efforts were focussed on creating an injury model of the cardiac slices as a tool to investigate drugs and disease mechanisms in the future. Besides this, I investigated the effect of human Extracellular Vesicles on cardiac slices. I learned how to create and culture rat and human-derived living and beating myocardial slices, how to obtain functional and electrophysiological read-outs from this model and how to designing and optimizing (bioreactor) equipment for the culture.

Master Thesis about CLIP 3D production in Biofabrication at the Jos Malda group.During this thesis, I performed a literature review to investigate the possibilities and the necessary adjustments which are needed to be able to use Continuous Liquid Interface Production for Biofabrication purposes in the future.
