St Helena PAC is established under Section 69 (1) of the constitution of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan Da Cunha. The role of the committee is to ensure that public officials are held accountable for spending of public funds and to report to the legislative Council on the same.The PAC acts independently and is not subject to the direction or control of the Governor, executive Council or any other person.

In this role i am responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of Air Traffic Services comprising of Aerodrome, Approach Control service, Aeronautical Search and rescue and Aeronautical Information Service as well as Aeronautical Meteorological Observations (AMO).Being a newly built airport we had to set up the SMS and QMS and ensure that all manuals that relate to the provision of ATS are developed and in place with full certification and approval from the regulator ASSI (Air Safety Support International). The biggest challenge which we continue to successfully deal with is that we are a CAT C airport in the middle of the South Atlantic with the nearest airport at 600nm away. For every inbound flight we have to have a higher level of certainty that safe landings will be effected before the aircraft reaches the Point of No Return inbound.
