In 2003, while 3 months pregnant with my daughter (now 15), I was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer. I was so frightened felt so alone, scared to even admit I had cancer, as my niece was in the end stages of Leukemia (she died 4/27/2004 just one month after my daughters' birth and 1 month before I began treatment). I kept my cancer to myself. Hid it from my family and friends for the most part, minus the surgeries. On that awful day... I began to die, began to believe that cancer owned me and would eventually take my life. I became a walking corpse, a zombie in what I have coined my "death cycle". Every day for 8 years I lived in death, in fear, in exhaustion, in "death". In 2011, after a divorce, and purchased a new house... I was diagnosed one more time.... one more time, I thought my world was coming to an end... one more time I sat in fear... in death. Finding a new oncologist was a top priority and upon finding him, I found an incredible support system, a volunteer peer counseling group. I began counseling and a year late became a counselor myself. In 2013, I began helping patients change their view and belief systems on cancer.Fast forward to 2018, I attended and event that forever changed my life. It was a catalyst for finding my passion... the passion that I had been searching for my entire life became totally clear to me. I set my sights on becoming a cancer coach. I am here to tell you that no matter your diagnosis, no matter what the test say, no matter how many times it comes back.. no matter what... you can live in JOY!
