I am a first-year agriculture student at Wilmington College, with a concentration in agriculture business and a minor in accounting. Please contact me at bran.barr02@gmail.com or (937)903-7592.I have been in the agriculture business for my entire life on my families' 200 acre row crop and cattle farm, but it was about 6 years ago when I really got involved in the industry. In 2016, I purchased my first purebred shorthorn show heifer, and we took her to Shorthorn Jr. Nationals in St. Paul, Minnesota. During my week there, I got to talk to and work with farmers and ranchers from across the country, and that is when I realized what I wanted to do with my life. I fell in love with working with and talking to people and learning about their situations and operations and helping them work through any problems they might have, and I that is what I want to continue doing after college for a long time to come.I have had a lot of hands-on experience in the industry over the past few years. The biggest part of my past few years has been my time on the Ohio Junior Shorthorn Association board of directors, and more recently, the president of the association. During my time on the board, I was in charge of the organization, set up, and execution of many events throughout the year such as shows, picnics, and get togethers. I was working with 8 other junior members and many of the senior members in order to make everything go smoothly, while also contacting other business in the industry looking for additional help and sponsorship. Our shows have always been a huge success, with our number of entries growing steadily each year.I have also had a lot of leadership and teamwork experience through many of my extra-curriculars in high school and now more to come in college. The biggest experience of my high school career was my time in our Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp. Through the program I learned a lot of valuable leadership skills during my time as flight commander, Raider team commander, and leader of various events like our dining in and community service projects. I also played a major roll on our Envirothon team as a team leader and helped our team place very well in the local competitions.
