Scottish Development International is a joint venture between the Scottish Government and its economic development agencies, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands & Island Enterprise. As the trade and investment arm of the Scottish Government, SDI supports Scottish companies looking to enter overseas markets, while also promoting Scotland as an ideal location for foreign direct investment.In my previous role at SDI, I covered the Food & Drink, Financial Services, Textiles, Technology, Life Sciences and Chemicals industries, eventually transitioning into covering primarily Renewable Energy. I have also spearheaded an initiative to increase local engagement on social media via platforms such as LinkedIn and Twitter.

As an intern at the British Consulate-General in Chicago, I assisted in the Policy & Communications team's daily operations. Duties included: Publicizing the newly announced Midwest Marshall Scholars by writing and forwarding press releases to relevant universities and newspapers; overseeing the Consulate’s increasing utilization of social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook using HootSuite; reviewing regional media to identify news articles that are relevant to the interests of the Consulate and the FCO; and editing state briefs and compiling biographies of politicians and business leaders for use at diplomatic meetings.
