An experienced analyst and researcher applying novel social scientific and computation approaches to address state- and non-state threats to domestic and national security. My research has focused on weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), terrorism, border security, criminal networks, smuggling, and counterproliferation efforts. I have been funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Justice, Department of Defense, Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, and private sector partners, and have briefed that research to senior leadership within local, state, federal, and foreign governments. I currently serve as an Associate Professor, helping to set up the first-in-the-nation College focused on homeland security, emergency management, and cybersecurity. Teaching from 1st years to PhDs, I have taught over 2,000 students in courses ranging from introductory sessions to predictive analytics to organizational theory to drones to terrorism. Since arriving at Albany, I co-founded a center (Center for Advanced Red Teaming), generating nearly $5 million in funding over the past five years, as well as establishing an 4500 square foot Indoor Unmanned Systems Training Facility (or "Drone Lab"). Prior to Albany, I served as Senior Researcher and Assistant Research Director for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland. In that role, I coordinated and prepared proposal efforts totalling $60 million in submitted proposals and over $20 million awarded to the Center, including $7 million where I served as PI or Co-PI.
