My main responsiblity in my current role is to identify, deisgn, test and monitor ICFR controls within our "Optimisted Supplier Experience and Accounts Payable Automation" transformation programme.In previous roles I have prepared management accounts for the Group as a whole, liaising and working together with the business unit teams, and compiling the statutory accounts for the annual report and other external reports. I have been responsible for ensuring the compliance and accuracy of the financial data that is submitted by the business units to us for consolidation.Through my studies and working at Tesco, I have developed skills in project management, macroeconomic analysis, financial accounting and reporting, management reporting and analysis, and accounting information systems. I am also developing my leadership and people skills, with a focus on change management, communication, and collaboration and partnering.I am always aiming for a sense of achievement, and doing so means working at the best of my ability at everything I do. Finance Manager - Group External Reporting & Control

In my first role outside of the graduate scheme at Tesco, I joined the Group External Reporting & Control team. This team is one of the lines of defense for financial control at Tesco, with business units submitting their financial data to us for consolidation. We are also responsible for compiling the statutory accounts for the annual report and other external reports.Key Achievements:- Involved in multiple smooth Year-End close processes including the preparation of the consolidated income statement and consolidated balance sheet. Prepared notes to the accounts including Adjusting Items, EPS, Discontinued Operations, Other Investment and various other Balance Sheet and P&L related notes.- Co-ordinated & implemented accounting considerations for major transactions across the Group with specific focus on the impact to the consolidated Group accounts.- Improving the Internal Controls in Financial Reporting by designing & implementing workbooks and processes including easier and automated triangulation of the annual report, thorough and automated periodic review files and other analytical tools.- Designed and implemented improvements to the Group Chart of Accounts and becoming an expert in the financial consolidation system (Hyperion Financial Management) and its interactions between primary statements and some sub-systems.- Closing many a Period-End for the Group, with activities including preparation of consolidated primary statements, review of individual BU accounts, challenge and analysis of movements.

This was my final role in the Graduate Scheme in which I completed by CIMA studies. The second role in the graduate scheme saw me a business partner working closely with the Procurement & Business Support operational team. As finance business partners, our team were responsible for the short, medium and long-term financial planning of the operational teams, finding risks and opportunities for these teams, and providing relevant and useful support and guidance to help the operational teams achieve their goals and projects.My main duties in this role included;• Reviewing the monthly management accounts, analysing, and investigating the reasons for variances and seeking to understand the wider business context behind them.• Preparing the long-term plan for the specific area and developing the budget for the following year and presenting this to the Finance Director.• Finance business partnering with relevant business leads in various areas relating to Store Expenses to develop projects for investment committee, support them on their business plans and forecasting for their divisions.• Working with a range of business areas to identify and develop opportunities to save on operational running cost or to reduce risk of budget variances.• Preparing quality management information and recommendations to help leadership’s decision making.• Partnering with the procurement team to assist in the business’ response to COVID-19 to keep the stores and colleagues safe, including the stock tracking and the financial scrutiny of sourced consumables.
