When opportunity comes knocking on your door, open it. As I was writing my senior thesis in my college dorm, my history professor from my community college reached out to me about a historical summer internship. I realized rather quickly that I needed to polish up my resume and interviewing skills. My first formal interview was on Zoom in my dorm before a major presentation. Despite the challenges of technology and my nerves, I impressed the interviewer and secured the internship.My experience entailed doing historical research and analysis of authentic documents on prominent historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, John Adams, and many more. Additionally, I utilized an advanced database system to create and implement a comprehensive digitization initiative, resulting in the digital accessibility of over 100 historical documents.This invaluable experience has solidified my decision to pursue a career as a historical researcher. I am eager to broaden my knowledge and share our country's rich history with future generations.
