  • Alta Motors
Director Of Operations, Manufacturing And Quality Engineering
    Alta Motors Sep 2016 - Jan 2019
    San Francisco, Ca, Us
When I was initially hired, we only had a prototype product developed. My initial task was to establish a supply chain for the vehicle. I developed ~95 suppliers globally for the~600-part number bill of materials, made supplier selections, established a manufacturing design for and took a prototype design into mass production by developing a factory with an annual capacity of 3,000 vehicles. As a member of the leadership team reporting directly to the CEO I built and managed three teams:► Quality Engineering – with 3 direct reports, we managed supplier quality, in-house manufacturing quality, incoming inspection and metrology, design quality and supported field quality► Production – Along with my 11 direct reports, we were responsible for Battery manufacturing & Motorcycle assembly. The team consisted of technicians, supervisors and production associates► Manufacturing Engineering – My 4 direct reports and I were responsible for Manufacturing Engineering for motorcycle assemblyIn addition, I also supported the product team as a resident motorcycle expert and test rider. During the process, I was personally involved in multiple product improvements and supported the development of the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to store the production data and quality check results. Later, I used this data to create dashboards to see how the factory was performing.

Bloom Energy is a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell company delivering reliable, resilient, clean and affordable energy, particularly in areas of high electricity costs. When I joined they were essentially still a start-up with less than 400 employees and now have approximately 1500 and went public in 2018.The product we made was unique, complex and unlike anything in production at the time. My primary responsibility was to find and develop suppliers to make those stack parts. This involved working for extended periods of time to solve tough technical process problems.Additionally, I also supported the analysis of the electrochemical data from the fuel cell stack to judge the output of the supplier’s parts as well as running the demand planning for several critical components.Among my other responsibilities were:► Developing new technology for processing Interconnect components.► Managing suppliers of fuel cell Interconnect components on technical and production readiness, cost and on-time delivery metrics. ► Coordinating cross-functionally with design, quality, and manufacturing to improve technical spec development and deployment at our suppliers and negotiated contracts with these suppliers.
