In my role as an Organ and Tissue Transplant Coordinator I was responsible for overseeing patient medical evaluations, coordinating with health care teams in leading "critical conversations" regarding donation opportunities, coordinating medical evaluations of organ donors, locating recipients and transplant surgeons, and finally organizing and attending organ recovery. It was a dynamic and demanding role, but provided me with unprecedented opportunity to simultaneously support the needs of those who were losing a loved one as well as to assist in bringing hope to those awaiting a life saving organ transplant.

As a Registered Nurse in the CCU, I was responsible for providing quality, holistic, patient-centered care to individuals who had recently had suffered either an acute myocardial infarction (M.I.) or who were suffering from a chronic cardiac condition. In this role I often managed patients undergoing Hypothermia Protocol, requiring the assistance of either Impella 2.5 or 5.0 cardiac assist devices, or Balloon Pumps. I also managed Swan-Ganz catheters and a variety of vasoactive and vasosupportive medications.
