This position develops, analyzes, and modifies policy and endorsement language for American National personal lines products. The intent is to maintain products which are compliant with state regulations and provide competitive differences in the marketplace. This position contributes to the compliance objectives of the company by analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations and bulletins to determine applicability to all departments in the company.

Assume responsibility for the training of Associate Underwriters and other new Underwriting Support team members. Assume processing responsibility for assigned states and agencies. (a) Process policy changes via computer system. (b) Review policy information, perform rating of vehicle drivers, verify appropriate coverage, etc. (c) Finalize data entry and authorize issuance of policies via the computer system.Maintain a working knowledge of both ANPAC and Farm Family Albany policy systems.Maintain understanding of state guidelines including available discounts, selection/rejection requirements, state specific forms and updates to underwriting guidelines and rating factors.Review required documentation for policy changes. Follow up with the underwriter & modify the policy as necessary.Review new business applications for accuracy. Determine if policies meet eligibility guidelines and accept, reject and/or adjust coverage as necessary.Assume responsibility for incoming inquiries via phone, email, fax, etc. from agents and others. Handle overflow phone inquiries via the ACD phone system.Instruct agents on company guidelines and procedures. Be an available resource to agents on a daily basis.Research agent service problems/issues to conclusion. This may include communication with other underwriting units, Actuarial Services, IT, and Accounting.
