Troubleshoot and repair several pieces of equipment such as welders, lawn mowers, and power tools.

I work on the programming of the welding robots and figure out solutions that can help improve quality and production. The robots that I work on our Fanuc and Motoman robots. I help updating standard work instructions for the operators and help update any other informational sheets. I also help work on ways to improve the process by applying Kaizen methods. I am assigned several projects to perform on my own and I help work on group projects.

Both machines are double spindle dual turret lathes. I’m required to inspect parts by using outer and inner diameter groove gauges, bore gauges, depth gauges, thread gauges, and functional gauges. I make machine control offset adjustments to keeps parts within tolerance and I change any inserts out that need replaced. Also, I am required to change many of the tools when there is a program change and change the offsets for that tool. Either I change the offsets of the tool by using my offset sheet or I touch off the tool on the touch setter.

I worked alongside many of the lead technicians and learned about the many different machines and how they operate. Some of the machines I worked on were lathes and mills. They taught me how to work on these machines and how to work on the electrical cabinets. Many of the lead technicians would allow me to work on some of the scheduled PM’s.
