Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, I currently live and work in Austin, TX. I'm a member of the Warren East High School class of 2007, Western Kentucky University class of 2011, and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a master's degree in American history in May 2015. As a graduate student in the Department of History at EKU, I specialized in Twentieth-Century American society and culture, with a focus on race and social movements.Aside from academia, I have a considerable amount of volunteer and work experience in the non-profit sector. My volunteer experience is mostly concentrated on early childhood education and activities. In terms of work experience, I have worked with children from pre-Kindergarten to high school students as a group-mentoring coordinator for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky, Group Leader and Assistant Supervisor for Community Education of Bowling Green/Warren County and College Counselor at Barren County High School.I'm currently a PhD student in the University of Texas-Austin History Department working under the supervision of Dr. Peniel Joseph. My primary scholarly focus is Twentieth-Century U.S. Society and Intellectual history, specializing in the public policy, the Black Intellectual Tradition, race, and gender.
