About Brandon Rich

Through my years of higher ed IT experience, I've gained expertise in software development, integrations, business analysis, systems architecture, cloud infrastructure, automation, enterprise architecture, and more. Currently, As the Associate Director for Enterprise Data & Integration Services, I lead a time focused on maturing our integration architecture to better prepare Notre Dame to navigate future system changes with agility. I love to share what I'm learning through public speaking and peer workshops, and to create community around interesting topics. This is recently exemplified by the Notre Dame AI Forum, which I conceived and executed in November 2023, and my ongoing efforts to coordinate strategy and collaboration around the building and deploying of AI services both at Notre Dame and in higher ed.

In my time at Notre Dame, I have maintained, enhanced, and built from scratch a number of enterprise-level applications. One especially successful project is "eTUSC," a fully custom app that takes online the formerly paper-based process of creating a term's class schedule. The app creates a copy of the relevant data, and after departments make their changes, an administration component allows the Registrar's office to review and commit changes to the live system. For end users, the highlight of the app is the drag-and-drop calendar that lets them schedule classes and identify conflicts with ease.

One major upgrade was for the main code editor. I incorporated syntax highlighting and the ability to edit multiple files simultaneously, using tabs. I also wrote utilities that helped parse and analyze the massive log / debug files provided by customers during troubleshooting.
