As Associate Director and Co-Founder of CARML, I am deeply involved in the overall strategy of the lab as well as day-to-day workflow. Our vision is to create a learning laboratory for the next generation of climate leaders by combining experiential education, community engagement, and needs driven research. I help develop tools and data analytics for the lab, manage client relationships, write articles and posts for our newsfeed, and work to cultivate new strategic partnerships.

I designed, coordinated, and taught a study abroad course for the School of Environment & Sustainability, taking graduate and undergraduate students to the Himalayas of India. The course, called Mountain Resiliency, explored placed-based solutions for a variety of climate impacts and initiated a Sister Cities International relationship between Gunnison, CO and Majkhali, India. The course was taught two years in a row, during summer semester of 2018 & 2019.

The Foundation for Contemplation of Nature (FCN) has been established to systematically research and disseminate the precepts and practices that underlie the contemplation of nature. Working as the Sustainable Initiatives Coordinator, I design experiential learning programs for corporate leaders and students from around the world to explore nature’s role in resilient living, mindfulness, well-being, and sustainable development. These programs are offered at the Himalaya Centre in Majkali, Uttarakhand, India and contribute to the growing field of environmental education.

As the first sustainability intern for Crested Butte Mountain Resort, I managed energy accounts for all mountain operations, created a database to store all energy use and cost information, and prepared a baseline for a resort-wide GHG inventory compliant with the Climate Registry’s General Reporting Protocol.

Working closely with the City of Aspen's Canary Initiative, we analyzed previous community-wide GHG inventories to create a Business as Usual (BAU) forecast. This GHG forecast served as the baseline for modeling the impact of mitigation efforts across five emission generations sectors: 1) residential buildings, 2) commercial buildings, 3) vehicles, 4) the airport, and 5) the landfill. With input and recommendations from Aspen, I designed an interactive model to identify, quantify, and visualize the impact of individual GHG mitigation efforts on the BAU forecast.The EMiTT model (effective mitigation transition tool) was the result of this work and is now being used in multiple climate action planning efforts across Colorado.

My core responsibility was to investigate the return on investment for a micro-hydroelectric generator at the Meridian Lake Park Dam in Mt. Crested Butte, CO. In addition, I managed a team of four senior undergraduate students to assist with data analysis.

As the Clean Energy Intern, I was tasked with community engagement in clean energy initiatives. This included phone banking, community presentations, and general outreach efforts. I designed and coordinated an open forum in Bellingham, WA on carbon pricing policies for the State of Washington. This was an opportunity for citizens to come and learn about the different options for clean energy policy facing the Washington voters.
