Responsible for high level and detailed system design, programming, and quality control for the Fire and Safety business unit. As a team we focused on fire and gas detection, CCTV, evacuation, access control, and other life safety and process applications. I would collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and details then develop appropriate drawings along with a CAD team. This includes system architecture and product selection details along with panel level and termination details. From a functional perspective I would work with operators to definte expectations and create appropriate C&E diagrams and control narratives than complete inital programming and testing prior to system delivery. Upon physical installation in the field I would complete site evaluations, tests, final programming edits, and commission the system.

In this role I started by working as a standalone manager on small, third party designed automation packaging projects. Over time my project portfolio and management responsibilities expanded to ultimately lead matrixed teams of various skillsets on larger and more complex in-house designed projects. I would be the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders on assigned projects, first in the packaged technologies business unit, which I continued to support my entire time, then focusing on the fire and safety team for the last five years. I worked closely with sales teams to help define scope of work and realistic constraints during project pursuit. With that relationship and effective collaboration I was able to manage a project portfolio exceeding five million dollars in size with projects including everything from short turnaround programming and service contracts to multi-year, multi-million dollar systems. I managed the schedule, budget, and scope of every project and handled all communication, reporting, and change requests related to the work. My projects regularly outperformed their budget and met their schedule while satisfying delivery scope.

Being a small organization, the project manager role meant wearing a lot of different hats here. My work included both project level sales on individual construction projects along with larger scope business development work with various builders and renovators. Through a solutions based sales approach I would work with clients to establish appropriate product mixes and infrastructure to meet their current and future needs then create and present proposals and negotiate a final solution. Once signed off I would manage the proejct including procurement, wiring, finishing, final commissioning, and client training while keeping all stakeholders informed on the status.

In this role I completed system testing, database builds, research and development, and some programming. When appropriate I was also dispatched to the field to conduct system installations and client training on system use.
