I am passionate about organizational design, data analysis and visualization, problem solving, innovation, international policy, economics, and public transit. I love finding new ways to tell complex stories through pictures, words, and numbers. If I didn't learn something new in a day it probably wasn't a very good day. You're equally likely to find me reading about foreign policy as you are about new technology. My interests include machine learning, stream processing, natural language processing, and distributed computing. I love open source technology and I use both R and Python for data science and D3.js, plus other JavaScript libraries, for data visualization. I'm increasingly focused on distributed computing using Hadoop and Spark as well as Elasticsearch. In general, I like to find ways to use quantitative analysis to improve business processes. Currently I lead a team of engineers and data scientists as the CTO of Jataware, where we specialize in using rapid prototyping and machine learning to tackle some of our country's toughest R&D challenges.Previously I taught at the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service Institute, built counter human trafficking technology, worked on an R&D team at the State Department and was a management consultant in Deloitte Consulting's Strategy & Operations practice. In 2012 I completed a Masters of Public Policy at UCLA focusing on quantitative methods of policy analysis. In my free time I enjoy alpine and rock climbing, surfing, and cooking.Check out some of my ongoing projects at brandonrose.org or on github.com/brandomr
