I have been involved in the maritime industry as well as pinniped and cetacean physiology research for over fourteen years and was the senior technician in charge of marine operations at the University of British Columbia Open Water Research Station before moving to Alaska. As I move along in my career, I look forward to working closely with scientists of different disciplines, and studying various aspects of ocean exploration. I wish to gain exposure to different environments and conditions, not experienced first-hand in my professional career. I wish to gain technical skills to make me a more-rounded marine scientist and acquire new skills in other disciplines. I look forward to the opportunity to travel to places I have yet to see. Places where the sea constitutes a nation's or individual's livelihood and places where I can obtain knowledge of the general health of the world's ocean and environment. I hope to take away the skills and knowledge along with providing ideas and contributions to an organization dedicated to scientific discovery, cumulatively allowing me a become a better global citizen.
