As a Production Engineering Intern on the Diatomite Asset team in Bakersfield, CA I was exposed to cyclic steam injection, steam floods, and the problems and nuances of the Diatomite reservoir. My project objective was to research a newly purchased lease and analyze the idle wells, previous operators recovery strategy, and offset operator activities. Upon completing this researched based project I recognized a valuable opportunity to increase daily production, save on LOE, and increase overall monthly revenue by returning idle wells to production. I created the RTP Program which evaluated idle wells using analytic spreadsheets containing various data. I created criteria to evaluate RTP candidates by compiling all well history and production data from various regulatory websites, lease operators, and well files. With this information I constructed spreadsheets that display the analyzed material quickly and efficiently, and a process flow diagram which will allow the team to continue the analysis after the end of my summer. I presented the information to the team and was able to leave them with a well guided path to success with 22 RTP candidates already analyzed.

Worked closely on location with engineers from K&M Technology group on extended reach directional well issues in the South Texas region. Used K&M software, Tad 9, to optimize drilling hydraulics for extended lateral hole cleaning - created a model, verified model against current wells, then evaluated the limits for both drilling depth, (measured depth and lateral length), and mud weight in each area of South Texas on a per rig basis.
