My primary responsibilities included the fuel system and boiler. However I was not limited to this. The ship underwent a 5 year ABS shipyard in Oman. There I worked side by side with Man B&W pulling pistons & cylinder liners. Prior to arriving in the yard a spare cylinder cover was assembled for the main engine. Parts bags were also made for each cylinder which was to be disassembled with all of the proper o-rings, gaskets, and seals. While onboard we pulled multiple cylinder covers due to failed welded repairs which were made in China during a shipyard. Also during this trip we were plagued with liner temperature issues due to poorly designed straight cut rings and worn liners.
