As the Director of Community Services for the County of Union's Department of Economic Development in Elizabeth, NJ, I am committed to improving the lives of the community members I serve. Over the past four years, I have led a variety of initiatives that have had a tangible impact on the lives of those living in the County of Union.One of my proudest accomplishments is my appointment as the Lead Program Manager for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. In this role, I was able to allocate $25 million to assist 500 households, preventing over 100 evictions. Additionally, I worked closely with a Database Specialist to conduct data review and analysis, which resulted in the formulation of over 15 quarterly reports for internal and external use. This data helped support community development activities, allowing us to build stronger and more resilient communities through planning and coordination of 90 programs, including land development, construction, and electrical inspection, permitting, and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) tasks.Through my work, I have also been able to increase affordable housing for 350 low-income residents and neighborhoods. This was achieved by identifying community needs regarding community development and HOME Investment Partnership funds. I developed programmatic decisions by collaborating with 125 community development and grant representatives, all while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.Additionally, I offer housing and community development assistance by overseeing the creation of 1-year plans, 5-year consolidated plans, and other reporting requirements for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).I am excited to continue my work in community development and am always looking for ways to improve the lives of those around me.
