Supported the expansion of the Office of the Chief Climate Officer by drafting and presenting informative one-page briefs weekly to the Chief Climate Officer on incoming climate-related investment deals abroad, performing desk and background research on climate and foreign affairs issues, and contributing to high-level climate talking points. Supported and lead principal engagement in strategic public events including UNGA, Climate Week, and COP28.

Conducted qualitative and quantitative research in English, Spanish, and Portuguese regarding foreign asylum, refugee, and citizenship laws and statistics in support of scholarly publications on emigration from the United States via producing weekly or biweekly multi-page research briefs at supervisor’s request.

Represented four English and Spanish speaking clients in asylum cases pending before USCIS and the Hyattsville Immigration Court. Researched, analyzed, and crafted legal arguments, including internal memos and formal legal briefings, surrounding eligibility for asylum and home-country humanitarian and political conditions. Planned and participated in two asylum interview preparation events for 50+ recent arrival Afghani asylum applicants.

Supported the U.S. Mission in Panama through researching and drafting roughly 10 one-page briefs on major humanitarian and political topics including developments in the National Assembly and Panamanian presidential primaries, migration fluxes into and out of Panama, and humanitarian concerns within Panama including women’s rights and LGBT+ rights.

Managed roughly a dozen cases pending before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, U.S. Federal Courts, and U.S. Immigration Courts via active client communication, in English and Spanish, and collaboration with clinic supervisors.

Crafted legal arguments and immigration filings under attorney guidance pursuant to VAWA, asylum, withholding of removal, and special immigrant juvenile cases before the Arlington and Baltimore Immigration Courts, Board of Immigration Appeals, and USCIS.

Identified potential fraud, corruption, money-laundering, and other legal and reputational concerns for Fortune 500 clients on subjects located in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. Communicated with project managers and editing team on a daily basis to produce informative, engaging, and visually appealing risk vulnerability briefs. Conducted risk investigations in various languages, including Spanish and Portuguese, using Boolean operatives and open-source databases such as LexisNexis and Factiva.

Drafted, researched, and finalized immigrant and non-immigrant family-based visa, naturalization, and legal permanent residence applications through effectuating communication between attorney and clients. Conceptualized and developed more efficient client intake and billing processes for complex family-based immigration matters. Provided detailed verbal and written guidance in English and Spanish to clients throughout the immigration process. Communicated on a frequent and professional basis with US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the National Visa Center, and the Department of Homeland Security with regard to client and attorney needs.
