I was born in Chicago IL, but grew up in the small coastal town of Mount Maunganui, NZ. As a child I spent a lot of time in the shed and exploring my dads workshop. My father was a talented Mechanical Engineer building indy cars in the U.S. for Mario Andretti. The fundamentals of engineering, design and making have been a large part of my life from a young age. In 2012, I studied a Diploma of Fashion Design and Technology at Massey University in Wellington. During my studies I discovered a way to engage my mind into creating wearable art and graduated at the top of my class with an award winning collection.Not long after graduating I found that my experience and knowledge in textiles was limiting the projects I could take on. My desire for more complex projects lead me to go back to university where I studied a Bachelors Degree in Product Design and Mechanical Engineering at AUT in Auckland. My time at AUT saw me working on multiple human centred industry projects with well known company’s such as Kathmandu, Marley NZ and Surf Life Saving NZ, each of these projects shaping me into a capable industrial designer with multiple disciplines. During my final year at AUT I co-founded White Light, a lighting design and production lab. White Light focussed on creating customisable lighting products using 3D printing as its main means of manufacturing. White Lights first product ‘The Porcelain Pendant’ was selected as a finalist for the 2017 Best Design Awards.After graduating, I was employed by Marley NZ. During my time at Marley I focused on creating 3D digital models of their manufacturing facilities, assisting with installation of overseas automation machinery, designing packaging and storage solutions, and creating conceptual manufacturing layouts for optimising production.In 2020, I was employed as a Product Designer for a world leading signage and display company, George and Willy. Over the last 4 years I have helped the George and Willy team develop, manufacture and launch more than 60 products internationally. I currently lead and manage product development and overseas manufacturing.
