The reason I got into hvac was through my father who is a gas technician 1 at enbridge gas. So from a very young age I was exposed to the trade and gained a lot of technical skills. I also was enrolled in the OYAP program which is the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program in high school. The main purpose of this program is the expose kids in high school to the trade they’re interested in and so I got to get some pre apprenticeship training which counted as high school credits while enrolled in high school. Thus after completion of OYAP I became a first year apprentice as a 313A basic level 1. Following that I enrolled at George brown college to pursue my gas technician 2 as well as gain some more knowledge and experience with refrigeration and air conditioning. Also during this time I worked at reliance home comfort as a junior installer in the Toronto area which lead to me gaining a lot of installation skills for residential appliances. As of now I am a gas technician 3 with a 313a basic level 1.
