Working a summer on an organic farm in Maine showed me just how much one person could shape their environment. Growing up, I had only seen and heard of how destructive humans have been to the world. It was on that farm that I realized we have just as much power to create and protect. That power is what propelled me toward a life in sustainability and ecological preservation. At present, I work with Compost Cats, a remarkable subdivision of the University's Office of Sustainability. Here I assist in developing and running programs dedicated to food waste diversion at both the community and commercial levels. One of my proudest achievements has been the development of my project management skills. I have put together comprehensive proposals on how we can improve our sites, such as installing an on-site water harvester or vermicomposting systems, which we are in the midst of implementing.Working closely with our staff, and communicating with other professionals in our field has prepared me for a post-grad life. I expect to graduate in May of 2024 with a BS in Sustainable Plant Systems. Looking ahead, my goal is to combine my academic knowledge, practical experiences, and passion for sustainability to take on innovative projects that promote greener living.Let's connect and make a difference!
