About Brandon Rothrock

I'm a published sustainability professional with six years' experience, specializing in climate change and sustainability initiatives in higher education, non-profit, and private sector settings. What I'm proud of: - Implemented New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) remodeled Residential New Construction energy efficiency incentive program- Led Environmental Defense Fund's first-ever, organization-wide landscape analysis of Environmental Justice- Published media pieces at The Rachel Carson Council on climate change and LGBTQ+ experience in the environment- Guided 2 university sustainability offices in peer-to-peer education initiatives and Earth Day event planning I've spent my career helping higher education institutions and environmental non-profits expand engagement and integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles into their work. After graduating with my BS in Geography from The Pennsylvania State University, I started out as a Presidential Associate in the Office of Sustainability at The American University in Cairo (AUC). I then went on to West Virginia University where I earned my MA in Geography and focused my work on documenting LGBTQ+ student perspectives of climate change. I developed expertise in energy tracking and management as an EDF Climate Corps Fellow with Sustainable Jersey in 2020, and in environmental justice and strategic planning as an EDF Climate Corps Fellow with Environmental Defense Fund in 2021. I then was an Assistant Project Manager of Energy Efficiency at TRC Companies, Inc., where I managed New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) Residential New Construction incentive program. I am currently a second-year Geography PhD Student at The Ohio State University.Outside of Ohio State, I am a Board Member for OUT for Sustainability, an organization focused on co-creating a platform for climate resilience and environmental justice for and by the LGBTQIA+ community. I am also an Agents of Change in Environmental Justice (AoC-EJ) fellow through Environmental Health News and the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. I love helping students jumpstart their careers in the sustainability and environmental fields. I recently launched my personal website, The Inclusive Environment, which aims to provide free mentoring services to young professionals and college students, with an emphasis on providing support to LGBTQIA+, disabled, and other marginalized persons.
