I served our investment banking clients as well as sourced and evaluated merchant banking investment opportunities. I also served in managerial roles in certain investments made by the firm. Moreover, as CFO, I oversaw the firm’s financial, regulatory and administrative activities. Representative matters that I’ve worked on include:• Raised $125 million second lien debt term loan • Raised $300 million senior preferred equity financing• Served as a committee member on multiple fairness opinions• Served in acting CFO and CEO roles on one of our firm's merchant banking investments, Ultra Tech Frac Services. I was tasked with effectuating a change in operational strategy and serving as a liaison between operations and the Board of Directors. I successfully negotiated the sale of the company to a strategic buyer.

Energy Special Situations Funds is a private equity firm focused on providing growth capital to the energy industry, with a focus on small and mid-sized business, ventures and projects. During my tenure at ESS Funds we invested in 5 oilfield service companies and 13 upstream businesses.My role at ESS was multi-faceted to include: fund administration, business advisory services and investing activities.Fund administration: I was responsible for all treasury and financial reporting functions. I also was responsible for investor relations and developing relationships with current and prospective investors. Advisory services: I advised portfolio company management teams on financial and operational systems, including building detailed models for financial planning and analysis, development of key performance indicators, and establish of proper internal controls, policies and procedures. Investing activities: I participated in sourcing and evaluating equity and debt investment opportunities. I also performed operational and financial due diligence and negotiated deal terms and legal agreements.

Petrie Parkman was an investment bank specializing in the energy industry. Petrie Parkman was acquired by Merrill Lynch in 2006. I prepared the consolidated GAAP financial statements, managed external audits and developed financial policies and procedures for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. I participated in the IPO registration process, including drafting the S-1 filing and the road show presentation. I managed the carve-out of ESS Funds, a wholly owned subsidiary of Petrie Parkman, concurrently with the Merrill Lynch acquisition.

I oversaw the planning and execution of audit engagements primarily in the investment management industry, including: investment advisors, open end and closed end mutual funds and broker dealers. I was responsible for managing client relationships, leading engagement teams and developing staff.

I performed the necessary accounting functions and calculations to accurately compute the daily Net Asset Value for five mutual funds under strict reporting deadlines.I held this job while attending night school to obtain the requisite hours to sit for the CPA Exam. After successfully passing all four parts of the CPA exam on my first attempt I left to join PwC.
