My research is focused on the development of an Optical Method to Detect Trace Amounts of Uranium in Aqueous Solutions. This method uses nanoporous silica gel to accumulate Uranyl (UO2) to be investigates using fluorescent methods to quantify the concentration of Uranium in the solution.

I performed finite element analysis (FEA) of the flexible bone screws and created methods to experimentally test the flexible segments of the screws. This included using Solid works to draw the flexible segments for FEA analysis and drawing components to perform three point bend strength measurements.

My research was centered around using micron sized polymer fibers to create superhydrophobic coatings on piezoelectric unimorphs. I used electrospinning to create the fibers. Then I tested and characterized the hydrophobicity using a goniometer to measure contacts angles and a scanning electron microscope to size and inspected the fibers for imperfections.
