As the Youth Director for the Eastern United States on the National 4-H Geospatial Team, I work daily to engage youth in meaningful research and public policy initiatives that address real-world challenges. From coordinating outreach with universities and government agencies to creating opportunities for hands-on learning in GIS and STEM, my role centers on empowering 4-H members to tackle issues like food insecurity, agricultural technology, and urban planning. I guide national initiatives while ensuring young leaders have the tools to make an impact in their communities.Day-to-day, I focus on building strategic partnerships, drafting policy briefs, organizing workshops, and mentoring youth in GIS-based research projects. I’ve also worked to expand our national team’s footprint, with the goal of representing 25 states by 2025, while advocating for the integration of GIS technology into youth education. My work has already helped establish collaborations with policymakers, universities, and local organizations, amplifying the team’s influence and creating pathways for youth to drive change.Recently, I attended the Esri User Conference 2024, connecting with industry leaders to strengthen our program’s reach. Every project I lead is grounded in a vision to equip young people with the skills and confidence to shape more exciting and innovative solutions to the Nation's challenges.

As a Youth Officer with Wake County 4-H, I’ve led transformative initiatives that engage youth in STEM education, civic leadership, and community outreach. One of my most impactful projects is the 4-H School Showcase Program (SSP), which introduces K-8 students to hands-on workshops on urban planning, GIS mapping, and agricultural science. These workshops are aligned with North Carolina educational standards and have been piloted at local schools, fostering early interest in STEM careers and community development.In addition to designing and facilitating these workshops, I’ve built strategic partnerships with organizations such as NC State University, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, and local governments to expand the program’s reach and secure resources. My work includes developing curriculum, training high school facilitators, and managing logistics to ensure the program’s success.Beyond SSP, I’ve contributed to youth development by organizing initiatives such as the 4-H Teen Expo, which connected teen entrepreneurs with over 100 community partners through workshops and networking opportunities. I also revamped the Council’s Bylaws, setting clear goals and positioning the 4-H Teen Council for future recognition as a State Youth Council under the North Carolina Department of Administration.I’ve further strengthened youth engagement by hosting interactive programs at Wake County Public Libraries, focusing on civic engagement, life skills, and STEM education. These programs include debates on pressing global issues like the role of AI in education, equipping young leaders with critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of community challenges.
