Research involves pharmacologic investigation of adenosine receptor-mediated microvascular response to pressure application with the goal of alleviating decubitus ulcer (wound) formation. - Manage a team of three undergraduate students and one full-time employee in development and execution of research strategy - Educate students, co-workers and medical professionals on current research and emerging topics in the pharmacology of wound healing and diabetes.

Graduate education developed expertise in pharmacology, neuroscience and psychology. Reserach projects led to multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and grant awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Presentation and communication of study findings at international research conferences with Investigators and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) resulted in being recruited to contribute to authoring a text (in preparation) targeted to medical and graduate students on schizophrenia.Laboratory methods and practices developed expertise in the following:- Initiation and standardization of behavioral assays- Electrophysiology- Models of drug-receptor interactionTeaching experiences include:- Annual advisement of medical students for summer research programs- NIH-sponsored short course in Interactive and Organ Systems Pharmacology targeted to graduate students, Postdoctoral Fellows and Primary Investigators while continuing studies in pursuit of Ph.D.

- Initiated studies identifying pharmacologic agents that influence skin blood flow in diabetic versus non-diabetic populations.- Identify and facilitate interaction between primary investigator and collaborators to target emerging strategies in diabetic skin blood flow research.- Manage a team of four employees. - Assist in coordination of clinical trials including collecting, accessioning and shipping of biological samples.
