Teaching a course entitled, "The Racial Wealth Gap and Why It Remains." The course covers current economic disparities that exist in the United States along lines of race and ethnicity, the history of various policies that have fueled and protected such inequities, and the barriers that prevent the elimination of the racial wealth gap at large.

 Creatively and effectively designing and overseeing plans to turn NJPP’s policy agenda into social changes through legislative and other action. Representing NJPP in the State House and in meetings with/presentations to policymakers, partners and other community groups. Staying abreast of relevant legislation; coordinating staff members’ involvement in the legislative process. Preparing and submitting testimony to the New Jersey legislature as needed; assisting with other policy staffers’ testimony. Maintaining work as a Policy Analyst on tax, budget, and economic security issues; focusing on areas related to labor, state and local tax policy, higher education, criminal justice, marijuana legalization, and economic development.

 Analyzed statewide and local policies and the state budget with an economic justice and security lens to advocate for policies that will spread economic prosperity, strength and sustainability. Produced reports, fact sheets, blog posts, op-eds and other written materials that use data to advocate for policy change. Maintained an expertise in various policy areas including labor issues, state and local tax policy, higher education, criminal justice, marijuana legalization, and economic development. Met with legislators and their staff members to assist in shaping legislation. Testified in support of legislation that advances economic security and justice. Cultivated and managed productive relationships with local and national organizations to further increase our impact and effectiveness. Joined NJPP as one of five policy fellows nationwide, chosen from a pool of over 600 applicants, through a program managed by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in DC.

Working with department leaders throughout the chapter to identify and achieve our stated goals of diversity - to ensure that NLC-NJ is actively pursuing a diverse Fellows class and cultivating diverse leadership in all areas including race, sex, gender, ability, occupation, geography, and education. Making diversity training and education an essential and robust portion of our programming and Fellows' Institute.

Managing and directing the mentorship program for New Leaders Council - New Jersey. Activities involve building relationships with fellows, learning about their personal and professional development needs, reaching out to prospective mentors throughout New Jersey, and pairing fellows with mentors whose interests and activities align.

Facilitated meetings with the co-chairs and committee members of the Urban and Regional Growth policy committee for the Governor-Elect's transition team. Drafted the committee report to represent the priorities of committee members and molded them to fit with the expressed goals and directives of Governor Murphy's platform and agenda.

Participate as an executive board member in information-sharing, mutual support, and group advocacy for a network of diverse non-profit and government agencies, faith-based groups, and individuals united by a commitment to fight the causes and affects of poverty in the State of New Jersey.

Working in the PolicyOptions program with students, interns and staff from The College of New Jersey, through the Bonner Foundation, to inform local and state-level decisions through research and information sharing. Duties include creating and implementing public policy lessons, guiding class discussion, directing research projects, and connecting community stakeholders and advocacy organizations throughout the Trenton area.

Promoted the mission of the foundation by conducting site visits with grant applicants and reviewed their proposals to determine level of mission fit and timeliness. Presented and provided recommendations on grant applications to board of trustees.

Worked closely with Mr. Torpey to achieve campaign goals, schedule events, procure and coordinate volunteers (door knocking, phone banking, etc.), raise funds, and manage daily campaign activities.

Composed a roster of foreclosed and abandoned homes in Orange, NJ. Directed contractors and developers in construction of homes being renovated. Conducted neighborhood resident surveys, then entered and analyzed survey data into the Success Measures program.
