Lead archivist for a National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) grant-funded project to process a large backlog (approximately 1,700 cubic feet) of state, county, and municipal government records in various formats including photographs, maps, film, audiovisual recordings, and digital media. Responsibilities included determining processing priorities; developing strategies for effectively implementing MPLP processing techniques; arranging and describing collections in accordance with DACS standards; creating accession records, EAD finding aids, and collection-level MARC records using Archivists' Toolkit; and making finding aids accessible online via CONTENTdm. Also served on a planning committee responsible for developing a digital records program for the South Dakota State Archives as part of the Council of State Archivists' State Electronic Records Initiative (SERI). As a member of this committee, my responsibilities included researching, testing, and evaluating software tools for processing digital records; drafting program documentation for archives staff; leading electronic records management training sessions for government records officers; and implementing effective workflows for ingesting, analyzing, preserving, and disseminating born-digital records received from government agencies and individual donors.
