  The credit analyst position entails compiling information pertinent to commercial loan requests such as financial statements, appraisals, collateral tables, etc. into a presentation utilized for the decisioning of a borrower’s credit worthiness. This process involves composing spreadsheets via Microsoft Excel with information from balance sheets, income statements, tax returns, and credit reports and using underwriting processes outlined by the bank. Further, the information is analyzed to seek out trends in cash flows and identifying any possible economic externalities that might affect the borrower’s financial health. Being at the largest regional bank in Southern Illinois, I am exposed to a largely diverse landscape of commercial loan industries such as agriculture, real estate, transportation, medical, etc. and work with clients that have complex credit exposure with the bank.In addition to commercial loan requests, I’m responsible for processing specialty lending loan applications at the corporate level. This includes gathering information on the company such as SBSS scores and Experian business reports as well as guarantor credit bureau reports to develop a written report with a credit recommendation.
