Serves as a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) within the Veterans Administration Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS). As Supervisory MSA, I have full administrative responsibility for planning and directing the activities of the MSAs assigned to the Roseburg Ambulatory Care Clinics which include: Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT), Emergency Department, Audiology, Dermatology, Wound Care and Specialty Clinics.Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:Master expert scheduler, master facilitator and trainer for Ambulatory Care, distributing and balancing the workload among staff in order to ensure timely processing, keeping in touch with the status and progress of work, and makes day to day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, reports on expected time of completion of work, and maintains records of work accomplishments and time expended, provides on the job training to new and current employees and ensures all training requirements are met, maintains current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, and directives, performs duties related to the receipt, intake, and indexing of health and administrative information to ensure smooth flow of patient/resident care from reception through disposition, interface with personal computer (PC) applications (Emergency Department Integrated System [EDIS], Bed Management System [BMS], MyHealtheVet) and numerous Vista applications and the computerized patient record system (CPRS), responsible for and ensuring staff are properly scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines, provides supervision of MSAs on monitoring the anniversary means test process, the required by appointment means test process and means test counseling for Veterans, families and staff.
