A canned answer might be something like, 'I collect business requirements and translate them into product requirements to be shared, evaluated and acted upon with design, engineering and analytics.' Sure, that's all important but it greatly simplifies and largely undermines the true role of product management. I think about product in terms of value creation and outcomes for the consumer and the business. The best product managers I've worked with care more about getting there than how they get there. Whatever is necessary to achieve an outcome could fall within the scope of product manager, whether it be strategic, operational, analytical, or tactical. Ultimately, accountability for the success or failure of a product falls on the product owner. In that, I'm comfortable wearing whatever hat is needed to get the job done 🤠."How would your coworkers describe you?"In my opinion, the most underrated skill at a company is being easy to work with. That doesn't mean being a pushover or task-taker. It means approaching every conversation with an empathetic ear, seeking to understand your teammates' perspectives and concerns. That's where you find the real synergies and collaboration that builds strong, lasting relationships with your team. I think that's how my colleagues would describe me, though they'd probably add that I'll crack one too many jokes 😅. In short, I love what I do!
