I started my career with GE as a Process Engineer, using my Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science & Engineering to research and develop coatings & chemical processes for hot section hardware. I then leveraged my process expertise and a new role as a Manufacturing Engineer in Supply Chain to help our Manufacturing facilities and Suppliers improve their first-time yield and maintain adherence to our Quality & Process requirements as a Special Process Auditor and Certifying Agent. It was through my experiences in researching, developing, and then applying my experience in “real life” (e.g. Supply Chain) that I came to learn about Human Factors Engineering. Understanding Human Factors Engineering gave me a whole new perspective on my past experiences, and a new outlook on my work so I decided to pursue it as a new career path. While working full time I completed my Master’s Degree in Human Factors Engineering (with Systems Engineering concentration), took a promotion to Controlled Titled Holder, and now with my 15+ years’ experience across Engineering, Supply Chain, and different GE Businesses I apply my experiences, learnings, and Human Factors Engineering expertise to Product Safety with a focus on design, assembly, and maintenance.

Principal Engineer - Human Factors EngineeringGe Vernova Jan 2022 - PresentResponsible for evaluating design and product lifecycle of onshore wind turbines against Human Factors, Safety, and Ergonomic requirements to ensure potential personnel and environmental hazards are mitigated to a safe level. Safety: Accident Scenario Reviews (ASR) for future wind farm locations, standard values for Human Error blocks in ASR chains, Functional Safety requirements, proactive safety reviews (HazOps, NPI tollgate)Human Factors: facilitate Human Reliability Analysis (e.g. HEART), create Human Factors Design Practice, conduct EHS and Human Factors review of NPI, promote the discipline through case studies, office hours and awareness sessions, apply Human Factors best practice to technical communications to the field.Ergonomics: improve considerations and assessments related to ergonomics in installation and maintenance of our wind turbines, coordinate with EHS on Level C events to establish and quantify any ergonomic risks/mitigations, apply learnings from Gemba Walks with FieldCore Additionally, support the reduction of assembly, installation and maintenance errors on our onshore and offshore wind turbines - contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems. -
Senior Engineer - Human Factors EngineeringGe Renewable Energy Apr 2021 - Dec 2021Boulogne-Billancourt, Ile-De-France, FrImprove GE Renewable Energy (GERE) Human Factors design practices and processes to enhance onshore wind products. Cross-train GERE Human Factors Engineer and other team members in Human Factors.Focus on Controls & Operability, perform gap analysis, technical assessments, and provide reportof recommendations.Coordinate assessments and recommendations with internal programs and external agencies. -
Senior Engineer - Human Factors EngineeringGe Aviation Apr 2018 - Dec 2021Cincinnati, Oh, UsFocus on methods to reduce opportunities for error in assembly and maintenance across commercial and military engine operations. Apply learnings to the creation of the first Human Factors Design Process Template (DPT) and participate in all related design process activities. Leverage experience and knowledge of HFE discipline, human error probability, and other business operations to further reduce error and waste.Fulfill the role of a Controlled Title Holder (CTH) as defined in the GE Aviation Engineering Handbook, including but not limited to staying current in the state of Human Factors Engineering, supporting other business functions and internal/external customers. Make recommendations and design guidance based on all available data, established analysis techniques and process knowledge to eliminate and/or mitigate error (and opportunities for error). -
Staff Engineer - Human Factors EngineeringGe Aviation Oct 2016 - Apr 2018Cincinnati, Oh, UsRecently completed my Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering with a Systems Engineering concentration. Thesis: Error Relationships and Probabilities in Assembly and Maintenance of Aircraft Engines. Human Factors (HF) focal for CFM56, LEAP and HF120 engine programs; introducing our HF tools and practices where appropriate to mitigate and prevent future process errors. Engaged the Digital team to stay lean and go fast creating an “app” that expands our HF analysis capabilities and automates an otherwise manual analysis of reclaiming 100+ hours of applied engineering, annually. Training and customer engagement included the creation and delivery of the SDF & PPE HF modules. A mixture of in-person and remote training was delivered multiple regions of customers including LEAP maintenance error readiness training engaging 150+ customer employee (mechanics, maintenance supervisors, quality focals). Surveys issued before and after training show measurable improvement in understanding of the subject matter and human error related field events or lack thereof is a tangential measure of training impact. Continue to empower and inspire HF colleagues through the companywide HF roundtable, sharing tools and methods across the businesses. -
