About Brandon Root
I'm a polyglot software engineer with a broad range of frontend, backend, and product design experience. Currently I'm part of The New York Times' Beta team. Before that I was an early engineer at Shareablee, a social media analytics startup, where I was the head of product and a team lead. I have many interests and am rarely (if ever) caught without a side project.My most recent project, Convea, parsed and visualized social media conversations using machine learning for non-profits, scientists, and PR agencies. It was acquired by Shareablee in 2014. Before that I founded Simily, a friend-matching startup and co-founded SchoolSeed, an edtech startup. I graduated from Carleton College in 2007 with a degree in psychology. Somewhere in the middle I ran a blog named SpitefulCritic, where I oversaw a writing staff of 130.
