About Brandon Vanburger

Straight out of high school I knew I wanted to serve the public. I enrolled in college to study political science and government, and held a couple odd jobs before getting my first real job in a call center offering support to a wide variety of businesses and customers. After gaining experience in customer service over the next year, I procured a position as a Loan Support Specialist with Umpqua Bank.During my time with Umpqua Bank I helped streamline and improve many policies, wrote new procedures that would save my department time, and over $100.00 per month on office expenses, and attended in-house training courses for advancement into a supervisory/management role. Through many roles over nearly a decade, from collateral analysis to operations support/consultation, I developed my professionalism, dynamic problem solving, exemplary people skills, and leadership qualities in training and delegation. After separating from Umpqua Bank, I turned my focus toward where I'd truly wanted to utilize the skills I'd acquired. After some searching, I finally found myself presented with an opportunity to work in public service, as a Business & Employment Specialist with the Oregon Employment Department. Since becoming a Business & Employment Specialist, I've learned, grown, and pivoted so much I might be an honorary ballerina. I have taken on many large projects, including updating/creating new forms for internal and customer use, writing procedures, facilitating 4 different job search and employability workshops, have assisted in specialized goal planning, training, and education each month of hundreds of job seekers, and have completed National Career Development Association training in Career Development Facilitation.For the future I look forward to the growth and opportunity I have ahead of me, and am elated to be working with such great people, and in service of the public, each and every day.
