I taight students, as young as four and as old as sixteen, English as a second language. Some spoke English quite well, while some recognized only certain letters. When I began at FedEx, I was simply unloading trucks. During my tenure, I was “promoted” several times and given more duties and responsibilities. At various times, I was responsible for ordering supplies for the station; pulling, packing and sending them to customers; sorting documents by service codes, bagging them, and loading them; and loading rural package routes by street addresses. In addition, I was also responsible for initiating the entire reload cycle when the switch was made from manual to computer. I was also responsible for exterior vehicle maintenance. FedEx instilled in me the value of teamwork, working efficiently, and creative problem solving as well as working under pressure.
