I’m an aspiring cyber security professional. In my life I’ve enjoyed working on difficult challenges, finding problems and solutions, researching how fix things, and figuring out how things work. Although the challenges and experience gained from working as a diesel technician, I've decided to move into a technical field with aspirations of working as a cyber security researcher. What I’ve found is that the cyber security field has already given me the opportunity to use the skills I’ve developed over the years through my hobbies and as a diesel technician. From when I was working as a heavy-duty truck technician I was able to enjoy the opportunity to develop my critical thinking, training, and communication skills, in a high paced environment with high pressure to get the job done quickly, effectively, and properly. My main role was as a technician where I was utilized my critical thinking, diagnosing, electrical skills, and knowledge. I also was responsible for the computers due to my exceptional technical skills, by other technicians and management in order to keep computers in working condition, properly updated, and to fix any issues that arise (hardware or software).My technical proficiencies include: C, Java, mySQL, Oracle, and Python (which I’m teaching myself on the side), Linux based systems, Windows based systems, computer maintenance, building, and repair. Using my own home labs to test and inspect malware statically and dynamically, as well as improving my Penetration testing abilities through CTFs across my system and the internet.My enjoyment of computers has led me to this career change, which has paid off in spades. The challenges of learning C as a first programming language, to the excitement to figuring out how programs I took for granted really work behind the scene keeps fueling me to learn, and practice more on my own time due to my excitement in technology and for the information security industry.
