In this position as a part of the UPMC Summer Associates Program I worked on the orientation of new UPMC employees as well as the programs designed for the development of current UPMC employees and those wishing to move onto the management track. In this position I also had the opportunity to present two times in the executive board room to the human resource executives of UPMC. I was able to present my project work from the summer which included working on a new employee website launch enabling savings $20,000 annually. The savings sprung from avoiding the need to print all the materials now available on the website. The $20,000 is a direct savings for Learning &Development and HR Compliance Division of UPMC budget.

As an Institutional Advancement Intern at Saint Joseph High School I work closely with the advancement team to help St. Joseph continue to grow and prosper. The advancement team is made up of the a development director, an admissions director, and an alumni and friends director. Together we plan admissions events, fundraisers, capital campaigns, reunions, and all other public relations events alike in order to attract, retain, and grow support of and support for the families of the SJHS community.

As assistant to the director of admissions we teamed together to work on recruiting students and families to SJHS. We designed events for prospectives students and families. We also did all of our own marketing to reach potential students. We worked closely with current students to get their view on how to reach more families and appeal to more students. Another large aspect of the job was designing orientation events for new students and families. This setting has many similarities to that of the human resources feild with the goal to recruit, retain, and instill teamwork and community in our school.

As assistant basketball coach for the Pittsburgh Huskies I was given the opportunity to share my knowledge with younger girls. This was a very challenging and rewarding position. I was able to accurately and effectively communicate my knowledge and experience of skills to my team. This was rewarding because as a collegiate athlete myself I am still learning and putting into practice these skills. Now I have the opportunity to be on the flip side and to give instruction and constructive criticism. This position takes immense communication skills between the head coach, the team itself, and the parents.
